Aeoleon Singers

The Aeolians is a community-based, auditioned choir that has been performing 3-4 concerts per season since 1976. Our mission is to present high quality, interesting choral programs, partnering with other artists and arts organizations in Nova Scotia.

We rehearse on Monday nights from 6:30 – 9:00 pm at Maritime Conservatory of Performing Arts, 6199 Chebucto Road in Halifax. Members are expected to attend rehearsals and to work on their music in between rehearsals with the aid of our downloadable rehearsal music files.

We have additional rehearsals, workshops and dress rehearsals as required throughout the year. Concert rehearsals may be held at various venues, and the choir occasionally performs outside the Halifax Regional Municipality.

The choir is a not-for-profit society with registered charity status. We operate with the assistance of several paid, part-time staff members including our Artistic Director, Accompanist, Assistant Director and Business Manager. Our members are volunteers who work to maintain and develop the choir.

Choir members pay an annual fee of $175 in the fall, which helps us with the costs of our paid staff, music and other ongoing costs. Payment options and financial assistance can be discussed with the Choir’s Treasurer.

All choir members participate in fundraising, selling tickets to our concerts, distributing flyers, or in general lending a hand with what needs doing. Each member commits to raising $200 in fundraising each year.
